西门子中国研究院被《环球科学》评为“2013年度最具影响力十大研发中心”。《环球科学》杂志是《科学美国人》独家授权中文版，是全球领先的科学、科技类杂志。这次评选是国内首次对在中国境内设立的企业研发机构进行系统评估，以表彰在2013年运用科技创新推进社会发展的研究机构。西门子凭借对研发、创新以及对中国可持续发展长期以来所作出的贡献获此殊荣。

西门子（中国）有限公司高级副总裁、中国研究院院长徐亚丁表示：“西门子中国研究院利用西门子的全球创新优势，创造出一套‘横纵融合’的创新体系，不断根据多样化的市场需求，研发出颠覆性的创新技术，取得了实质性的成果。”

以用户需求为主导的创新体系为西门子的合作伙伴和客户创造了实际价值。2013年由西门子提供主要电气设备并组装的中国首台110千伏移动变电站在武汉顺利出厂，创下了应急供电领域的又一里程碑。2013年8月，在中国推出了最新的S.M.A.R.T.（即简单易用、维护方便、价格适当、可靠耐用、及时上市）产品——高性能普及型机床数控系统Sinumerik 808D ADVANCED，显著提升了普及型机床的加工精度和加工效率。2013年11月，西门子（深圳）磁共振有限公司（SSMR）在华首发了其在本土研发、生产的3T新产品——聚能光谱磁共振MAGNETOM Spectra，代表了当前磁共振发展的最先进水平。

作为西门子全球创新网络的重要组成部分，西门子中国研究院多年来不断加大在华研发力度，中国已经成为西门子全球重要的研发基地。截至2013财年，西门子已经在中国建立了拥有2,300多名研发人员的创新网络和20个遍布全国的研发中心。2013财年，西门子在中国新增有效专利958项，平均每个工作日注册4项专利，拥有的有效专利总数达到4,314项。

此次评选的十大创新研发中心还包括陶氏化学、卡特彼勒、沈阳机床设计研究院以及中兴通讯等。由专家、企业家、行业顾问、《科学美国人》全球顾问和媒体人组成的权威评选委员会，对中国几百家国际、国内研发机构的研发投入、创新产品、商业影响以及创新合作等方面进行了完整评估。
