沃尔沃S80L加长版标配的DSTC动态稳定和牵引力控制系统包含多项能够平稳加强安全性与驾驶乐趣的功能。通过比较驱动轮的转速，改变动力供给，DSTC能够始终保持牵引力。在该系统的核心有一个陀螺仪，可以感测汽车的行驶方向并将其与方向盘的运动和车轮的转动相比较。该系统能够探测出潜在的打滑危险，通过减小发动机功率输出或对一个或多个车轮施加制动来帮助抵消这种情况发生。甚至在湿滑路面上起步时DSTC也能发挥有效的作用。在某些积雪条件下，可使用控制台上的信息菜单关闭防滑控制功能，提供更好的牵引力。
