2012年中国南岳观雾凇—“能量红牛 动力衡山”山地负重挑战赛于1月8日在南岳衡山结束，来自全省2000多名 “驴友”聚集在南岳游客中心广场。
本次挑战赛分为负重登山比赛和自行车山地挑战赛两部分，衡阳市市委宣传部、湖南省登山协会等相关领导出席了开幕式并致辞。比赛从南岳景区游客中心广场出发，途经康家垅门票处、玉板桥、忠烈祠，直至终点半山亭独秀山庄停车场，全程公路约5.6公里。最终，来自郴州的南岭户外运动俱乐部获得比赛冠军。
